This 3-hour rope offering is a guided arc that weaves workshop and jam, with short scenes explored throughout, into one cohesive experience. Designed for newer to rope participants who want to build confidence and for intermediate riggers who want to deepen skill and presence, this event centers rope as attention, communication, and relationship, rather than performance.
We will work with fewer techniques and longer scenes, allowing participants to feel how connection unfolds over time. Rather than rushing through patterns, we will slow down and explore how tension, pacing, breath, and stillness shape the nervous system and the relational field between partners.
Teaching will include:
• Rope as a language of attention, tension, and choice
• How to notice when a bottom begins to drift, disconnect, or move toward shutdown
• How to slow a scene and reconnect using breath, eye contact, and stillness
• Tying and untying with clarity, care, and ongoing communication
• Practicing stillness as an active form of connection
• Framing the top as a leader who tracks sensation, attention, and the evolving energy of the scene
• Foundational structures and harnesses, with attention to load-bearing connection points and why they matter as preparation for future suspension or moving a body on the ground, without this being a suspension-focused class
After guided teaching and structured exercises, the space will open into a supported jam, where participants can integrate what they are learning with facilitator presence available for guidance, reflection, and support.
This is a space to practice being deliberate, attuned, and responsive. Expect a container that is connective, embodied, and intentionally paced, where beginners feel held and more experienced practitioners have room to refine and stretch.
If you’ve been vetted for The Forest Haven, you’re welcome to come solo and partner up in the space (switching partners is welcome throughout the night).
If you have not been vetted, please arrive with a partner or self tie and plan to stay with that partner or with yourself for the duration of the event.
