Imagine the best damn night out dancing but you like ...

 

ACTUALLY PREPARED FOR IT.

 

We tend to think that we can just walk into a night club and all our nervous systems, and egos, and bodies are ready to receive the power of the dance.

 

Cuz lets face it, when we leave a club feeling AMAZING it's not the booze, it's not the substances, it's not the cool outfits.

 

IT IS THE DAMN DANCING.

 

So ...

 

What if instead of prepping our outfits, we spent that time prepping our breathing?

 

What if instead of prepping our bodies with booze, we prepped it with electrolytes?

 

What if instead of prepping our egos with the cool moves, we prepped our hearts with permission to do whatever?

 

That's what we do at Medicine Disco.

The Run of Show

 

We will walk into the space and close the door behind us physically and metaphorically.

 

I'll meet you with some cute tunes :)

 

Then I'll either guide you through some gentle movements standing or I'll decide if we just need to lay the fuck down on the floor and shut off.

 

See, right off the bat you are held. You don't have to think about anything. I'll just guide you (with full permission for you to tell me to fuck off and do what you want as long as it doesn't disrupt someone else's experience).

 

I'll guide you through a lite meditation, some stretches and exercises (don't worry it's not aerobics).

 

Then the music will pick up and I'll guide you through the subtle increase in tempo (don't worry it's not pilates I'm just going to make suggestions on movement patterns).

 

Then the music will pick up more and I'll guide you through that.

 

Then it's all yours. It's a damn disco.

 

It's gonna feel a bit like you're in your own movie with a beginning, middle, and end.

 

The end being a ride from the dancing, shaking, etc into a soft landing back to the floor.

 

Then we let any new information that appeared when we were dancing to REALLY land into the human system.

 

Then we share and you feel different and leave back into the old world with something new.

 

RULES:

 

Physical Safety Rules: 

Don’t push anything. If there is a warning coming from a joint or muscle in the body listen to it and back off. This is not crossfit. 

Like literally if you felt like spending an hour on the floor lying down cuz that’s what made your body feel the best, do that. 

 

If you need to stop dancing for any reason even if I’m yelling at the group to move big and fast, stop. Do nothing. The beats of the music are totally valuable just landing as healing pulses and vibrations. 

 

Do not touch anyone without permission and do not touch anyone when in movement (there is no contact improv here). Make sure you have the room to get really big with movement. Big moves are warmly welcome btw. Just don’t want to wack anyone and don’t want anyone to be afraid to also take up space.

 

Permissions to: 

Not follow my creative movement cues on the mic 

Not talk to anyone

Talk to someone 

Not dance the way anyone else is 

Mirror the way someone else is dancing 

Be still 

Make faces 

Be totally not into my songs 

Leave and go home in the middle of the experience

Go to the bathroom 

Have a smoke break

Get a drink (not booze)

Not have any intentions 

Not look at anyone

Look at everyone

To be an amazing dancer and use what you got

To be a total mess of a dancer 

To have the best most smiling time

To have a rough time
